Now, this post is going to piggyback on the first post for the year on “An Ode to my Love” if you haven’t read it you should. Click here to go back.
In that letter I mentioned how there was a time I didn’t love God. I didn’t have passion and I just didn’t feel the butterflies. So I’m here to say if you’re in that phase where you like God, you know you’re born again but you don’t seem to see the father the way people see him or you’re not just gingered to want to stayyy then this is for you.
I used to not love God, at least that's what I thought. I would see people speak about God with so much passion zeal and excitement. I used to wonder how and why. I didn't feel that way about God. For me, it felt like choosing to commit to God was a safe option (let’s sha not go to hell fire yunno) or it was the morally acceptable thing to do (at least that's what all the upright people felt like)
One day I spoke to God about it, I desired to love him in the way that most people did or love him in my own way. God made me understand that ATTENTION creates AFFECTION.
Love and familiarity are created from a place of fellowship. I hope you're not playing it safe with God. You shouldn’t you don’t have to.
What is love? For me when it comes to God, love is a person. It's the embodiment of sacrifice. God loved us before we loved him and he will always love us.
Your lack of love for him is because you’ve not spent time experiencing him. Don’t rush it. Don’t be under pressure. It'll come.
I like talking and I’m hoping that my talking starts bringing me money soon. 😌 (from my ear to God’s mouth) If I want to have a telephone conversation I can stay there for like 5hours or even more. What am I doing in that period? I’m bonding. (Send in your longest talking hours I want to see the Guinness world record breakers)
You should know that the strength of your intimacy is not an emotional feeling. You actually need to spend time with God. It’s not cliche. Talk to him about your day, greet him in the morning, involve him in everything you’re doing. Before you know it, you begin to know him more. You begin to need him around you.
The love of God is beautiful and desirable.
So if you’ve been sleeping when reading your Bible it’s time to wake up. Go on a retreat. Pray longer hours. Spend time with God. In no time, his desires become your desires.
It’s a new season. Your lover is waiting. He has missed you❤️ Give attention to him.
